Former Pakistani cricketer Abdur Rehman believes that India team leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is a very ordinary bowler who can take many runs very easily.
He further added that there is no novelty factor with Chahal, and the twist of the wrist cannot cause the ball to spin much. Rehman, who played 22 Tests for Pakistan, suggested that the Indian bowler will not be able to find any success in red-ball cricket.
Speaking on the “Nadir Ali Podcast”, he said:
“Yuzvendra Chahal is a pathetic spinner. You can hit him easily. There’s no power to his ball. He’s not even a great turner on the ball. He doesn’t seem to be able to spin enough with the red ball.” He may be good enough for shorter formats, that’s all.”
In particular, Chahal has been one of the best ball-handlers for the Men in Blue in white-ball cricket over the years. With 91 wickets to his name in 75 matches, he is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20I.
The 32-year-old also has an impressive cricketing record of over 50 years. He has collected 121 wickets from 72 ODIs. Furthermore, he ranks third on the list of top wicket takers in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having bagged 166 wickets in the competition.
