Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has praised Manchester United superstar Casemiro, admitting he was wrong to question the Brazilian’s wish following his transfer.

Having won five Champions League and three La Liga titles with Real Madrid, Casemiro joined Manchester United in a Β£70m deal last summer. The move came on deadline day after United unsuccessfully went after Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.

Many, including Sherwood, questioned Casemiro’s ambition and desire, speculating that the Brazilian might be lacking in hunger after winning it all with Real Madrid. However, the 31-year-old has proven his doubters wrong, turning in tireless shifts and exuding the same passion he displayed at Real Madrid.

Following the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday (February 26), Sherwood told Premier League Productions:

β€œWhen (he) first arrived, I thought (Casemiro) had come to Man United to fill the cash register. He has done it all at Real Madrid; he can’t be hungry.

β€œI was so wrong, so wrong. When he scored the equalizer at Stamford Bridge, you saw the way he celebrated with the Manchester United fans, from that moment on I knew this guy was the real deal. He is incredible. He puts out fires, any kind of danger puts him out, but he can play too.”

Sherwood concluded:

“Someone who arrives with that desire at his age, you have to take your hat off to him.”

Casemiro, who has been named in the FIFPro World XI, has featured in 33 games for Manchester United in all competitions this season, racking up five goals and as many assists.

He was on the scoresheet, alongside Marcus Rashford, in the Red Devils’ Carabao Cup final victory over the Magpies.

Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh responds after Piers Morgan criticizes Manchester United’s celebrations

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and the players celebrated enthusiastically after beating Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. Considering it was United’s first trophy in six years, the jubilant scenes were no surprise.

I can’t believe I’m looking at a @Man Utd coach and players dancing for joy after winning the Carabao Cup… what a shame. πŸ™ˆhttps://t.co/A0HY7ixEoX

However, Arsenal fan and renowned British broadcaster Piers Morgan considered the celebrations “embarrassing”. He tweeted:

“Can’t believe I’m watching a @ManUtd manager and players dancing for joy after winning the Carabao Cup… so embarrassing.”

However, legendary Indian batsman and ardent Manchester United fan Yuvraj Singh did not like Morgan’s opinion, saying fans deserve to celebrate however they want.

Answered:

β€œWhy is it embarrassing, Piers? Aren’t we supposed to enjoy the moments when we win?

@piersmorgan @Man Utd Why is it embarrassing docks? Aren’t we supposed to enjoy the moments when we win?

The celebrations could well continue for Ten Hag and Co. this season, as they are alive in three other competitions. While third-placed United are rather odd in the Premier League race, they could go all the way in the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.
