Who is Ryan McKenna’s selfie kid? Viral Super Bowl sensation ends up in jail over felony charge

Ryan McKenna became famous five years ago when he took a selfie with Justin Timberlake in the middle of the Super Bowl LII halftime show. He is now back in the news, but not for the best of reasons.

According to TMZ, he was arrested the day before Super Bowl LVII for a felony. The arrest report says he was drunk and beating up his friend inside California Pizza Kitchen in a strip mall in Naples, Florida. Ryan got into an argument with a 15-year-old friend before getting up and yelling obscenities at his friend’s girlfriend.

The police tried to talk to the 15-year-old, but Ryan, who was drunk, constantly interrupted them, to the point that the police had to calm him down and tell him to leave while they discussed the matter with the boy.

When mall security asked police to remove Ryan from the building, the police report says his behavior turned aggressive and he tried to get closer to his friend of 15 years. The cops tried to calm him down, but the selfie guy kept trying to get closer to his friend, while he pushed the cops’ hands away from his chest.

That’s when the police handcuffed him. As he resisted, the agents knocked him down. He again tried to resist, but finally gave up and put his hands behind his back, being handcuffed.

His mother provided a different version to TMZ:

“(Ryan McKenna’s mom says) her son was NOT drunk and was just playing with his friends at CPK. She says one of Ryan’s friends pulled a chair out from under him and that’s when he pushed the table, trying to be funny. “
