“That wasn’t what I always wore – there was a different type of clothing that I wore under the clothes,” she explained. “But in the pool it wasn’t a one-piece. It was a bikini and you had to see the stomach.”
Dakota Fanning added: “But we really had to get it right. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. And it wasn’t a glued-on thing, I wore it like a corset so it wrapped around my whole body and tied at the back.”
“I was laying there so my back wasn’t showing; it was totally seamless all around. It’s amazing,” Dakota Fanning said.
Revealing that she actually looked pregnant, she said: “People on the set were staring at me a lot that day and then apologising for staring. Nobody could believe that stuff. I loved it.”
Not all visual tricks can fool people in real life as much as they can fool people watching the finished footage. Hats off to the production for coming up with such a convincing prosthetic! And, of course, to Dakota Fanning – for making it a success.
