The stunning and talented Victoria Monet made a sad announcement about her love life just months after performing at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30.
She and her old love are no more, their relationship is over. But the question is, did Victoria ever marry her boyfriend John Gaines? Is she divorcing her husband or leaving her lover?

Victoria Monet and John Gaines have been together for a long time.
The two meant a lot to each other, even if they kept the matter low key initially. In fact, avoiding a public relationship initially may have been the key to their success.
However, in December 2020, things became a lot more public — as Victoria and John were expecting their first child.
Apart from their love for each other, Victoria Monet and her boyfriend John Gaines also have a daughter named Hazel.
The two welcomed their baby girl in February 2021.
Before the pregnancy announcement, the biggest link between them — in the public eye — was that Gaines appeared in her 2020 music video for “Moment.”

In September 2021, almost half a year after the birth of his daughter, he spoke on that topic.
Victoria spoke Summary Regarding the possibility of marrying Gaines, she said that getting married was “definitely the plan.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better female example for @itshazelmonet,” he praised. “You’re nailing this motherhood thing, my love. I’m so proud of you and I love you.”
Victoria responded in a comment, saying: “I love you and I wouldn’t be half the mum I am without you and the way you support me!”
But that was in 2023. By the start of 2024, fans began to suspect something was wrong.
It became a conversation more about Victoria being her ex-husband than her being her husband.

Victoria Monet and John Gaines announced the end of their relationship
Posting on her Instagram Stories on September 23, 2024, Victoria announced that she and John were no longer together.
“We have spent the last 10 months respectfully and privately accepting the fact that we are no longer in a relationship. Although we still love and respect each other completely, we are no longer a couple,” the joint statement said.
Note that they use the word “couple” and not “husband/wife”. This is technical, but worth mentioning. They go on to say:
“We still think highly of each other and act with love for our family in every interaction. We have a wonderful daughter to raise for a lifetime and that is undoubtedly our No. 1 priority. No relationship status can remove or replace that fact. We are committed to doing the inner work and trust that God will place us where we belong in the right time.”
