Talk about a sight for sore and worried eyes.
Late Friday night, as she promised in a surprising and revealing statement, Kate Middleton returned to the public sphere for the first time in six months.
The Princess of Wales joined her famous family at Trooping the Colour, her first royal outing since Christmas… despite her cancer diagnosis.
As you can see above, Middleton arrived at Buckingham Palace by car with her family.
She then rode in a horse-drawn carriage with her three children – 10-year-old Prince George, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 6-year-old Prince Louis – to take part in a procession in honour of King Charles in London.
For those who don’t know, Trooping the Colour is a military parade held to celebrate the King’s birthday.
According to onlookers, Middleton was all smiles as she sat at the event and waved to the large crowd in the carriage behind King Charles and Queen Camilla.
She and her children then left the car to watch the official parade at Horse Guards Parade in St James’s Park.
Kate Middleton revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment.
She has not yet revealed what type of cancer has attacked her body; nor has she said much about the treatment she is receiving, although a recent rumor claimed Middleton is visiting doctors in Texas.
However, ahead of her appearance on Friday, Middleton gave the public an update on her condition.
“I’m making good progress, but as anyone who’s been through chemotherapy will know,
Good days and bad days,” Middleton said in an Instagram post confirming her unexpected involvement in the royal affair.
The Princess further said in her message:
“On bad days you feel weak and tired and you need to give your body a rest. But on good days, when you feel strong, you want to take full advantage of feeling good.
Middleton stressed that her treatment is “ongoing” and will continue “for a few more months,” adding:
“On the days when I feel well enough, I enjoy getting involved in school life, spending personal time on things that give me energy and positivity, as well as doing a little work from home.”
In closing, the mother of three shared that she is “learning to be patient, especially with uncertainty” and concluded with:
“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who so bravely shared your stories with me.”
Though Middleton has shown little of herself in the months following the cancer announcement — as she focuses on her recovery — she has recently been spotted hanging out with her family, while on a few occasions running errands by herself.
In her message on June 14, the Princess of Wales said she was “starting to work a little from home” and expressed her “hope to attend some public events in the summer.”
However, no date has been set for her full return to royal duties.
