entering the new season of The Masked Singer There is a famous man disguised in an elaborate ship costume.
But who’s behind this intricate look?
The Masked SingerFox’s #1 unscripted show is returning for its 12th season this September. That means an entirely new lineup of stars will be hiding beneath the elaborate ensembles.
In the first look of the show, we meet Shipp, who proves himself to be the best with his brilliant performance.
But did he reveal himself with the first note? Let’s discuss!
Who Is Ship On ‘The Masked Singer’?
The first episode of the season will air on Fox on Wednesday, September 25, but fans were still able to guess the identity of one of the contestants alongside judges Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg.
In the first look we meet Ship, a performer draped in nautical details from head to toe. The steampunk gown features anchors, pirate accessories, and a wig that we’re definitely seeing Shonda Rimes wear for Queen Charlotte next season. Bridgerton,
The mysterious singer performs a slow, almost spooky version of Bastille’s “Pompeii”, which the judges love. Judging by the expressions on their faces, they are clearly amazed by the singer’s range and cover of the song.
But who could be behind this mask? Some strong theories immediately emerged from fans.
Who is Ship? Hints, clues and guesses
New to this season is that clues will be “strategically embedded in costumes, song choices, and on-stage moments.” This means that clues were already there for fans to decipher from Shipp’s look and her song choices before the season premiered.
For us, this is the clear leader, but we’ve included a few other guesses as well:
annie lennox
The Eurythmics singer has a great voice and although his English accent isn’t too clear, it’s still slightly understandable in the higher notes if you listen closely. Also, if the song choice is any indication, one of Eurythmics’ most loved videos is the song “Here Comes the Rain Again,” which takes place during a storm. Ship’s first performance is very stormy!
Tracy Chapman
The beloved Grammy winner isn’t one to get too keen on performing, but she has shown off her skills once again in the last two years after Luke Combs covered her classic, “Fast Car.” The pair even performed the song together at the Grammys in 2024. Being the reclusive artist that she is, it would make sense for Tracee to perform with the help of a disguise. And honestly, we can hear it in the sound.
Variables
Now, this would be a huge milestone for The Masked Singer. Honestly, all of these women would be huge. But Cher is “retired,” so having her perform live right now just adds to the excitement. Many fans buzzing on the internet think she’s the obvious guess. They’re noticing “clues” in her costume as proof. Remember when she was on a Navy ship for her video of ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’?
