Last month, Jana Duggar celebrated her 33rd birthday.
It’s not a milestone year in most cultures, but because Jesus was only 33, it seems like a birthday the Duggars would make a big deal.
Whatever the case, Jan is clearly taking a very different path through life than the paths chosen by her sisters.
While the other Duggar daughters married very young and started families, Jana chose to remain single.
Interestingly, the eldest Duggar daughter has been keeping a pretty low profile in recent months.
In fact, she hasn’t posted anything on Instagram in almost a year.
But according to a new report from YouTuber Katie Joy, Jana has been keeping busy during her long hiatus, and she’s recently taken a huge step towards more independence.
Joy says she spoke to one of Jana’s brothers on condition of anonymity.
When she mentioned during the conversation that Jana still lives at home with her parents at age 33 (the Duggar women aren’t allowed to move out until they’re married), the unnamed sibling dropped a bombshell.
“Funny. Jan moved out two years ago,” he remarked.
Obviously, if this is true, it would be a huge deal in the Duggar-verse.
Fans have spent years begging Jana to cut ties with her parents and strike out on her own.
But Katie does some digging and learns that Jana’s new found freedom may not be quite as perfect as it seems.
“Jan moved into a smaller house behind the Big House on his property. She hasn’t really moved out, she just has her own space,” a source close to the situation tells Joy.
“Anyone who claims Jan moved out is lying. It’s hard to barely move out when you live in a tiny house on your father’s property.”
Katie says Jana’s decision to stay on the property has come as a disappointment to some of her biggest supporters, including her rebellious younger sister Ginger.
“I was told that the trip that Jana had made to see Ginger was reportedly extended at Ginger’s suggestion, with the hope that she would be able to convince Jana to move out. Ginger reportedly But offered Jana a landing spot in LA,” Katie shared.
Of course, Jinger revealed that Jan is one of the few Duggars she still talks to, so maybe it’s not too late.
Perhaps moving out from under Jim Bob and Michelle’s roof was just a necessary step before Jana breaks away from the shackles of her monotonous daily life and joins Ginger in California.
Well, obviously that’s never going to happen.
But we can still dream, can’t we?
