Tawanchai open to Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong rematch
Tawanchai open to Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong rematch

Tawanchai PK. Saenchai is more than happy to be racing again with the only man to give him a loss under the ONE Championship banner.

Tawanchai is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Petchmorakot Petchyindee to capture the ONE Muay Thai Featherweight World Championship. He is scheduled to defend his belt against dangerous Turkish striker Jamal Yusupov in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video.

If he passes his first test as ONE world champion, the Thai star may be looking for a rematch with Sitthichai Sitsonpeenong later this year. About that, he told ONE:

“It really depends on ONE. It’s no problem at all if they look to set up a fight between me and Sitthichai. However, there is nothing to avenge. Because he has my respect. But if ONE wants this fight to happen, then I’m happy to face him.”

The two Muay Thai icons squared off at ONE: Battleground III in August 2021, with Sitthichai winning a hard-fought split decision.

Although Sitthichai normally competes in ONE’s featherweight kickboxing decision, the chance to face a man he’s already beaten with an ONE world title on the line may be too good an opportunity to pass up.

Fans in North America can watch Tawanchai’s next fight on February 24 live and free on Prime Video with an Amazon subscription.

Iconic striker John Wayne Parr is a Tawanchai fan inside and outside the Circle.

Legendary Muay Thai star John Wayne Parr is a fan of Tawanchai PK.Saenchai, calling the ONE Muay Thai featherweight champion one of the heaviest hitters on the promotion’s roster.

When it comes to his behavior outside of the circle, Parr dubbed the Thai warrior one of the most humble fighters he’s ever met in a recent Instagram post:

“One of the best parts of being involved with @onechampionship is becoming friends with all the fighters. One of the humblest but at the same time most fearsome would have to be @tawanchay_pk. Super humble at the hotel, but in the circle one of the toughest on the roster”.

Parr, a former WMC Muay Thai world champion, wrapped up his iconic career in combat sports last year at the ONE Championship 10th anniversary exhibition, ONE X.

Although Parr came up short in his last fight against former ONE world lightweight champion Eduard Folayang, it did nothing to diminish his status as one of the greatest strikers of all time.

‘The Gunslinger’ closed his career with 99 wins and a host of world championships after 35 years of competition.
