Streamers laud Trainwreckstv’s innovative idea for clips on Kick, TikTok-style approach set to launch in a day

Tyler “Trainwreckstv” recently took to Twitter to announce that Kick’s own clip system will be up and running within the next 24 hours. At the time of writing, there are less than 12 hours left before the deadline, but here’s why the news has so many people excited.

According to Tyler, Kick’s clip system will differ from Amazon-owned Twitch, as they take a more Tiktok-like approach to increasing visibility. The idea has been enthusiastically received by a large number of creators and streamers.

Twitch creator and former Riot employee Blaustoise hailed it as an amazing idea, saying he’s been waiting for a dedicated clips section on the platforms for some time.

@Trainwreckstv actually an amazing idea. Been expecting only pure clips tabs with daily highlights, viral clips etc.

“I didn’t like Twitch’s outdated clip system”: Trainwreckstv explains why the Kick clip system will improve on Twitch

From its beginnings as a fledgling streaming platform, the Stake-owned Kick has inevitably drawn comparisons to its much more popular and older counterpart, Twitch.

However, the similarities also drew a lot of criticism, with many calling it a clone of the purple platform as the “navigation” section and the layout of the entire website still looks quite similar to Twitch with a green skin instead of purple.

However, if Trainwreckstv’s recent announcement is any indication, the clip system, one of the key features missing from Kick, is making a few changes to the old formula.

The streamer revealed that he had no affinity with Twitch’s system because there is no dedicated page for tracking clips that go viral, and most of the community relies on social media platforms like Reddit or Twitter to find out which one is gaining traction. . To that end, they will implement a “TikTok-like” strategy that Trainwreckstv says should drive growth:

*IMPORTANT* I didn’t like twitch’s outdated clips system that requires us to look at reddit to see trending clips, so we’re working on adding a “tiktok-like” system for visibility in clips to help all creators to expand your reach to help with growth

‘CLIPS’ TO LAUNCH IN ~24 hours. *IMPORTANT* I didn’t like twitch’s outdated clips system that requires us to look at reddit to see trending clips, so we’re working on adding a “tiktok-like” system to be able to discover it in clips to help all creators expand your reach to help with growth.

The comment about the clip system caught the attention of former Twitch staffer Bryan Wade, who is apparently responsible for the current system on the platform. In response to him, Trainwreckstv clarified that while the mechanics for clipping parts of the stream were more than fine, they don’t like that the platform lacks discoverability that can help clips and creators grow. The streamer explained:

“No the trimming system and the clips themselves are good you did fantastic beyond fantastic to be honest you know I love you what I’m criticizing is the lack of visibility around the clips I don’t want to have to visiting Reddit’s toxic caves to see what’s trending, I prefer to stay on the respective platform I’m streaming from.”

A few more reactions to Kick’s new clip system

As mentioned above, the decision to implement a revamped system with a dedicated clip section on Kick, like the “Page for You” on TikTok, has been positively received by many in the streaming community. Here is a brief sampling of some of the many reactions on Twitter:

@Trainwreckstv It’s honestly a really smart idea, but I think Twitch will probably end up copying it.

@Trainwreckstv W feature. Twitch has literally no algorithm for organic growth

@Trainwreckstv One thing I would love to see, Back on Mixer had a dedicated Battle Royal channel that would rotate to random channels as if it were in the “top ten” and had a chance to win. I would love to see your opinion on this.

@Trainwreckstv That sounds awesome, having a carosell system of vertices for clips would be great for maintaining engagement, discoverability and good for future announcements. It’s good that you’re working on the foundation than trying to shove ads down everyone’s throat. W kick

While many expect Kick to grow as a rival to big streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube, there’s still a long way to go, particularly in the moderation department. These are some of the recent controversies on the platform that have caught the attention of many.
