As documented last week, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are homeless.
The former reality star was among the many who lost their residences in the Los Angeles wildfires, which are still devastating the area.
The natural disaster has engulfed thousands of acres of land and left at least 25 people dead.
Many residents, including Hills alumni, evacuated the city limits following government orders.
Pratt and Montague left the area with their sons Gunner, 6, and Riker, 2, and only a few personal belongings.
After losing most of their belongings, a pair of TikTok followers created a GoFundMe campaign on Pratt and Montag’s behalf.
Since then, donations to the couple have topped $134,000… which has raised eyebrows from those wondering:
Come on, does a pair of celebrities really need that much money from strangers? Aren’t there other people who are more deserving????
“We’re very used to negative things, so it’s pretty standard,” Pratt told Us Weekly in response to critics.
“If people want to send their money to anyone, it is equivalent to buying a celebrity’s stuff, buying their movie tickets.
“People can do whatever they want with their money and, thank God, there are people who want to support us and send us anything.”
Back in the day, Pratt and Montag were kind of A-list names in the world of celebrity gossip.
He was on a highly rated reality show and seemed to have mastered the art of grabbing headlines.
Pratt added in this interview:
“Nobody needs it, and it’s not a tax. People can say whatever they want and they are entitled to their opinion. But, all the people who are sending messages, they’re asking to send money, they’re asking to do an Amazon wishlist. …These are their choices.”
Spencer says he and his wife are “grateful” for setting up the GoFundMe.
However, he did not ask for it.
“Till three days ago no one thought we were rich celebrities and it is becoming disappointing. Like if you say ‘Spencer’ on Google, it literally means [says] ‘Broke, no net worth,’ Pratt said last Wednesday.
“My net worth on the site you’re searching for has been $1,000 for the last 15 years. So now our house burned down, my parents’ house burned down [and] Now we’re rich celebrities, which is infuriating because the media has never called us celebrities with respect [and] Never called us rich.”
Try “haters” and “trolls,” Pratt basically concluded.
“There’s this weird disconnect that we’re getting grouped with actual rich celebrities, it would be great if we were… but we’re not, people know that.”
