Today The show is going through some big changes.
As you’ve probably heard, Hoda Kotb stepped down last week after nearly 17 years on the anchor desk. And he’s been replaced by Craig Melvin, who will now sit down with Savannah Guthrie for the show’s third hour.
Obviously, there has been a lot of coverage about those changes. But another personnel shuffle has been mostly suppressed.
Where is Sheinelle Jones?
If you are regular Today Viewers, you may have noticed that Shinelle Jones has been absent from the show since before Christmas.
She missed Kotb’s final episode of the week-long “Hodabration”, and interestingly, Sheinley’s colleagues have hardly acknowledged her absence.
Al Roker briefly stated on January 10 before introducing his temporary replacement Jill Martin, “Shenelle is off.”
Not surprisingly, this situation has caused concern among fans.
“Another day without @SheinelleJones on the @TODAYshow and no explanation? What is happening? We need answers,” an ex (formerly Twitter user) named Terrace Miller tweeted during this morning’s broadcast.
and as parade Turns out, Terese was not alone in her confusion:
“Not even a recorded piece from @SheinelleJones on @TODAYshow for the last day of @hodakotb?! Seems strange. Hope she’s ok,” another user wrote amid Hoda’s farewell party last week.
“I wonder if he was fired or didn’t take a pay cut or something, because they didn’t mention that. Good luck to Hoda and good luck to Sheinelle, hope all is well!” A third viewer wrote.
“I loved the HODA brat but really wondered why Shinelle Jones wasn’t in the cast?”. The fourth person asked.
“@TODAYshow can you tell us where Sheinelle Jones is? How weird is she remembering #HodaKay’s farewell!” The fifth one called out.
a continuing mystery
While Sheinelle’s absence remains unexplained, it’s important to note that this isn’t the first time she’s been away Today,
Sheinley took a brief hiatus in November 2024 to attend a conference.
Upon her return on November 18, she said, “I wasn’t here on Friday, I went just outside of Philadelphia to talk to the Society of Professional Women.”
At the time, Jones revealed that she “stayed until the end and talked to almost every single woman at the end. I love that kind of thing.”
So it’s possible that Sheinele is simply on hiatus and still plans to return to the anchor desk. But silence from NBC and Today Definitely disturbing.
