Shannen Doherty to undergo chemotherapy (again) for stage 4 breast cancer

Shannen Doherty has an unfortunate message.

The actress gave listeners an update on her ongoing battle with breast cancer during the latest edition of her Let’s Be Clear podcast … telling them that the structure of her cancer cells has changed and grown.

As a result?

Doherty will have to begin chemotherapy once again.

“I thought I was fine. A.M. “I’m having to go on chemotherapy again and it’s really tough, like the thought of going through this again just breaks me,” Doherty said on air.

Doherty said she would receive the treatment through a port in her chest, while she admitted several years ago in 2016 how physically and emotionally draining the process was when she first had to undergo this type of procedure.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 — and soon after underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Following a remission in 2017, Doherty announced the cancer had returned and is now classified as Stage 4 in 2020.

Last year, he said the disease had spread to his brain and bones.

“It’s really hard. Like, the thought of going through all of that again just devastated me,” Doherty said on the podcast.

It has devastated me in such a way that, yes, I knew I was in Stage 4, yes, I knew it was really serious, yes, I took steps to protect my family and to clean up a lot of things.

“But when you have to go to the hospital and you have to be unconscious [and] When you have a port put in you, it becomes real in an incredibly different way.”

Doherty says her unknown future is “scary,” which she describes as:

“I don’t know how long I’ll have to take chemotherapy, I don’t know if it will be three months, six months or if it doesn’t work after three months and we’ll have to change the treatment again,” he said.

“It’s not something I can predict, it’s not something my doctors can predict. And it’s scary. It’s like a big warning.”

“But at the same time, there is some positivity in it as well.”

Doherty has gone through an ugly divorce from Kurt Iswarienko.

But she had said some time back that these days she is trying to focus on things that really matter.

“I feel like a lot of the clutter has been cleared out of my life now and things have become more clear and focused,” Shannon said during the March 11 episode of Let’s Be Clear.

“I know what I want for myself, and I know how I want to wake up every morning. I just look at things differently because the last year and a half has been hell.

“I can say that my life has been truly blessed and I am an incredibly lucky person.”
