Has Netflix Canceled ‘Selling Sunset’?
When Netflix released Season 8 of Selling Sunset on Sept. 6, the explosion of drama didn’t seem like the show was in its final stages.
However, there were signs of turmoil on social media. Chrishell Stause, who has arguably been the heart of the series since its inception, took aim at co-star Nicole Young on her Instagram.
Chrishell declared on her Instagram Story, “I will never work on any show with him ever again. I would rather get sued.”
Chrishell also tagged Adam DiVello’s Dunn & Dunn Productions, writing, “And you’re disgusting to look at in the dark [Emma Hernan] He should at least try to show this to the world instead of letting him defend himself with the truth.”
The claim that Emma Hernon is having an affair with a married man is a rumor, with no evidence to back it up. While this would reflect more negatively on the alleged person in almost any context, it is still extremely sad.
Chrishell suggested, “Someone should take my phone.” But it’s possible that her outburst on social media wasn’t isolated — and that disagreements behind the scenes may have made it impossible to continue filming.
Is this really the end of an era at Netflix?
Some cast feuds make for great television show. But, as we’ve seen in other reality TV franchises, there is such a thing as “too much drama.”
If two actors refuse to do a film together, it could hamper the production work.
Additionally, we all know that Netflix has gone from being “the new streaming platform that saves beloved shows” to “the streaming platform notorious for canceling successful shows.” Warrior NunAny?
However, Selling Sunset isn’t just successful. It’s number two on Netflix’s United States top 10. It’s also number six on the global top 10.
Plus, the shows that Netflix understandably cancels are usually expensive, requiring special effects, writers, and more. A big selling point for networks and streamers is that reality TV is less involved, and it appeals to a wider (and less discerning) audience.
So, no, Netflix hasn’t announced that they’ve canceled Selling Sunset.and there was too much drama to resolve in any one reunion. Maybe the cast needs time to cool off before Season 9. Hopefully.
