Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello’s feud seems to be brewing in song lyrics.

But “dumb and poetic” and “coincidence” feel very personal to Sabrina.
It looks like she’s taking a dig at her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes and his on-and-off girlfriend Camila Cabello.

It’s distinctly possible that Sabrina Carpenter’s lyrics aren’t about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. It could be, as the song’s title mentions, Wonderful “coincidence.”
But it’s clear Sabrina has noticed the rekindled romance between Shawn and Camila. She’s been liking posts about them on social media.
Camila Cabello hasn’t discussed Sabrina Carpenter and Shawn Mendes’ history. To her credit, she has put “Espresso” forward as the Song of the Summer. (Regardless, obviously“Good Luck Babe” is the real SotS)

“Dumb and Poetic” is another track from Sabrina Carpenter. This one is not about the alleged feud between Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello. Instead, it takes aim at a self-obsessed, know-it-all mansplainer who is extremely pretentious.
This isn’t necessarily about Shawn Mendes. There are many theories on the internet that point the finger at other people who may be as intolerable as the song describes.
But “I promise mushrooms aren’t going to change your life” could possibly be about Shawn Mendes. He has spoken openly about his use of psychedelics and his interest in holistic medicine.
During a lengthy interview with Zane Lowe, Sabrina Carpenter vaguely explained who inspired some of her songs.
“I thought about some of those relationships. How some of them were the shortest ones I’ve ever had and how they affected me the most. And I thought about how I reacted to those situations,” Sabrina explained. “Sometimes it’s great, and sometimes it’s not so great.”
Sabrina added: “Hence songs like ‘Dumb and Poetic’, a gentle acoustic ballad that’s also a scathing critique of a man who hides his mean tendencies with words of therapy and a high-powered record collection.”
