A sad news came from the entertainment industry today:
Rob “The Rabbit” Pitts, host of the Netflix series Tex Mex Motors, died on August 25, just hours after posting a YouTube video titled “This Is Goodbye.”
He was 45 years old.
The star’s videographer, Jeff, confirmed his friend’s death in the comments section of the video on Sunday, writing:
“I am now with him in hospice. He passed away on 08/25/2024 at 21:45. He will be missed and never forgotten!”
Pitts was the CEO of Pitts Truck Service, a third-generation family business started in 1968; it provides truck and trailer repair services.
In the aforementioned series, Pitts worked on restoring classic cars… He traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border with co-host Scooter Carrera to find old vehicles to restore and resell.
Cars featured on the show include a ’69 Opel, a ’65 Volkswagen Bug, a ’63 Chevrolet Carryall and a vintage Bronco.
The program ran for one season in 2023 and was scheduled to return for a second season. However…
“I know some of you are wondering what I’m doing. After SEMA last year I started feeling ‘bad’ and was losing weight,” Pitts told his followers a few months ago.
“But I was preparing to film Season 2 of Tex Mex Motors for Netflix, and wanted to be camera-ready, so I didn’t care so much about it.
“During filming, I began to lose my appetite and develop symptoms such as acid reflux.”
Pitts was diagnosed with colon cancer in late March.
The host said in his update, “I’ve been at home since then, receiving treatment, and it’s been very difficult. There have been more bad days than good days, but I’ve kept on going.”
“I have so much to live for and life is going my way. Don’t feel sorry for me… I’ve achieved my dreams of owning my own store, finishing Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life.”
Pitts is survived by his wife, Randi Foraker, who shared his video on her Facebook page, writing: “My heart.”
In his most recent video, the 45-year-old advised viewers, saying:
“If your body is telling you something is wrong, don’t stop until you figure it out. Ask questions and get the answers.”
We offer our condolences to the friends, family members, and loved ones of Rob Pitts. May his soul rest in peace.
