Rich Homie Quan cause of death: Rapper dies at the age of 34

A sad news came from the music world today:

Platinum-selling rapper Rich Homie Quan, real name DeQuantes Devontae Lamar, died Sept. 5 at his home in Atlanta.

His age is 34 years.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner said in a statement that Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta notified its staff of the rapper’s death on Thursday.

No cause of death has been released at this time, although an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

However, TMZ has obtained a recording of a 911 call made by the star’s girlfriend on Thursday afternoon … in which she says the performer isn’t breathing and doesn’t have a heartbeat.

She also said Rich Homie Quan was lying motionless on the couch in their home — and that he started foaming at the mouth when she tried to move him.

Particularly well-known and beloved in his native city of Atlanta, this musician came into the spotlight in 2013 with the track “Type of Way.”

He then performed fan favorites “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out”, “Lifestyles” and “Save Dat Money”.

His debut album, “Rich as in Spirit,” was released in March 2018 and peaked at number-32 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The rapper at one point joined Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project, “Rich Gang,” and was a frequent collaborator with fellow Atlanta residents 2 Chainz and Jacquees.

“Hey bro, we just talked about shooting a video,” 2 Chainz wrote on Instagram after learning of the tragedy today. “Special prayers for you and your family, and prayers for everyone who is going through something. My condolences bro.”

Another rapper, Boosie, also acknowledged Lamar’s cause of death was an overdose in a series of messages posted on Twitter.

“Just spoke to you bra,” he said on this forum. “#tipQUAN Never forget your smile and the way you talked and of course your music.”

In a follow-up post, Boosie said:

“We got some great memories together that always bring a smile to my face #restupquan We were making some shit up too.”

Lamar was the father of four sons – two with Amber “Rella” Williams, and two from a previous relationship. May his soul rest in peace.
