Rachel Ziegler apologizes for ‘F–k Trump’ rant — but did she really go too far?

Rachel Ziegler is facing criticism for her “F–k Trump” comments.

Like the rest of America, celebrity reactions to the 2024 election results have varied.

Many people have reacted with sadness and justified fear. Others responded with misogynistic memes.

Rachel Ziegler vents her anger — not just at Trump’s win and America’s loss, but also at the voters who are returning him to office. Following the backlash, in which one pundit actually called him a “pig”, he has apologized.

What did Rachel Ziegler say about Donald Trump?

Rachel Zegler, star of West Side Story and the upcoming Disney remake of Snow White, posted on her Instagram in light of the 2024 election results.

Like many, many, many people, she was disappointed by the results and the uncertainty of what was to come.

“I find myself speechless in the midst of all this,” she began. He expressed his sadness and disappointment at “the outpouring of support for this man who threatens our democracy.”

Rachel confirmed; “I’m here with you. Crying, yelling, hugging. Poeticly highlighting how the left is failing us to create a new way forward.”

Like millions of Americans, Rachel lamented the “deep, deep sickness in this country” that allows people like Trump to triumph over basic decency.

He also expressed hope that “Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself may never know peace.” He concluded one of his Story posts succinctly: “F–k Donald Trump.”

Ziegler also wisely urged people to stop using Twitter. Trump campaigner Elon Musk bought the platform and made it worse, leading to an exodus of millions of users. Critics disagree over whether Twitter’s decline is the result of maliciousness versus incompetence when it comes to its notorious owner.

Why is Rachel Zegler getting criticism?

In the wake of her comments, some readers did not find Rachel Ziegler’s opinion on Trump relevant. Instead, they circulated screenshots on social media as if they were proof of wrongdoing.

One Twitter citizen said, “@rachelzegler is a talentless, disgusting piece of human debris.”

Another tweet complained: “I never thought we’d get to the point where a literal Disney princess would knowingly use words like ‘f–k’ in a public statement, but here we are.”

While it’s true that many people who find the use of “f—k” offensive are elderly, that doesn’t mean this Twitter user was. Political motivations can make even the most ordinary behavior – such as Rachel Ziegler’s feelings towards Trump – appear “outrageous.” We all do it.

The bizarre reaction wasn’t limited to random people who are still posting on Twitter like it’s 2014. Right-wing provocateur Megan Kelly went so far as to call Rachel “a pig.” Classy as always, Megyn.

Then, very quickly, Rachel decided to back down and apologize for the tone of her Trump comment.

“Hate and anger have driven us even further away from peace and understanding and I’m sorry I contributed to the negative discussion,” he wrote in a new Instagram Story.

“This week has been emotional for many of us,” he acknowledged. “But I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their own opinion, even if it differs from mine.”

Rachel concluded with a much less-convincing apology than her previous post: “I am committed to making a positive contribution to a better tomorrow.” That last part, at least, makes a lot of sense.

Did Disney force him to apologize?

There is no indication that Disney has issued any kind of apology. However, Rachel stars in the lead role in Disney’s upcoming live action remake (they keep making these for some reason) snow White,

It’s possible that Disney asked him to retract his comments after receiving boycott threats from people who clearly have a skewed sense of right and wrong. (Speaking of people like that, his co-star is Gal Gadot, so… this movie was already is going to be controversial.)

But were Rachel’s Trump comments crossing the line? Probably not. That one line about Trump voters never knowing peace However, this may have gone a little too far.

After all, of course we want to create a world where everyone – even those in our country who have once again led us astray – can find peace and find peace.

Remember, when they go down, we go up.
