It’s not every day that Prince William rescues his mother-in-law from a disaster. Not in public, of course.
After Kate Middleton’s surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour, many are feeling more hopeful about her long-term prospects.
Still, she’s been spending a lot of her time relaxing — and with family. That includes her own parents, Michael and Carole Middleton.
When Carol was in trouble, son-in-law William stepped in to save her.
Who would have considered William a hero?
Prince William attended Royal Ascot on June 19. At times, his schedule and that of royals five centuries ago seem similar (except for the shorter travel time).
He wasn’t alone there. His mother-in-law Carole Middleton and father-in-law Michael Middleton were also with him. This is where the minor disaster struck.
During this competition, Carole Middleton’s heel got stuck in the grass.
In fact, the shoe came off her foot completely. It was embarrassing, but it could also be dangerous. If you know someone who has had to be hospitalized for an injury from slipping on grass, you don’t need to be told this.
Luckily, William was there to rush – or perhaps on foot – to her rescue.
Prince William has done this before
Notably, William was holding his mother-in-law Carol’s hand while Carol put her shoe back on. The two were seen laughing at the time, People Thankfully, it doesn’t appear the shoe woes resulted in an ankle injury, according to reports.
What’s noteworthy is that this isn’t a new move for Williams.
He had previously performed the same service for Carol’s daughter, Kate.
In 2013, Princess Kate – who was only a Duchess at the time – got stuck. Her shoe got stuck not on grass, but in a net.
It was the Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day parade.
At that time, Prince William helped his wife by providing physical support while she was pulling herself out of the fire. Oops!
If you’re wondering about Prince William’s outfit
William had to wear a hat when hanging out with his in-laws.
While the Prince of Wales could very well have done well as a “hat man,” in this case, he dressed in this comical style to conform to the dress code of the region. It included a waistcoat and necktie.
Everyone comes to watch the horses race. Beans-on-Toast Island is a fascinating place.
