It’s been three weeks since the publication of Prince Harry’s memoir, ExcessiveAnd the book still tops the list of non-fiction bestsellers.
This is good news for Harry.
The bad news is that his family is still very angry about the book, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be settling down anytime soon.
Yep, it looks like several members of the Windsor clan still have a twist on Harry’s literary debut, and insiders say no one has made a bigger fit than Prince William.
As you’ll recall, in the book, Harry accused William of assaulting him.
Word of the excerpt got out more than a week before the date of publication, and William reportedly flew into a rage.
Sources claimed the Prince and Princess of Wales were so furious that Kate Middleton began plotting revenge against Harry.
Now, several palace insiders have spoken out People Magazine and confirmed that the situation is every bit as ugly as it appears from the outside.
A royal source told the outlet, “It’s all just awful.”
The insider says, “Although there is sadness because the Queen has died, the coronation should also be a joyous moment, as Charles will be crowned.”
“But it’s a giant shadow.”
A separate source confirms that no one is more upset than William.
A source close to the royal household says: “William is the one who is most upset and needs time to calm down.”
As with the rest of his family, William has avoided speaking publicly about the book.
In fact, he ignored shouted questions from the press during an appearance with Kate last month.
“They didn’t want to fan the flames of rift and controversy,” says royal correspondent Valentine Low.
“They know that a statement or anything said in a briefing will prolong it. They wanted it to calm down as soon as possible. The longer it goes on, the less hope for reconciliation.
Journalist and royal expert Tom Brady says it is too early to say whether Harry will attend King Charles’s coronation in May.
“A lot can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door’s always open,” Bradby tells People,
“The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to discuss, and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.
“the problem is that [the Sussexes] Surrender and apologize to the palace, but when ‘memories change’, it is very difficult.”
A source close to the situation says Charles is keen to invite Harry, because he loves his youngest son, and because he knows what kind of message Harry’s absence would send.
“It’s an important occasion for Charles, and he wants his son to witness it at the coronation,” says the insider.
The source said: “He would like to bring Harry back into the family.”
“If they don’t sort it out, it will always be part of King’s rule and how he has abandoned his family. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be terrible for him to continue.”
Yes, a missing prince is definitely something that people miss.
But could the royal family get back on good terms with each other between now and May?
This is the first major challenge of Charles’ reign, and it certainly is a formidable one!
