Prince William has said it clearly.
But by doing this he is making headlines.
In a particularly candid interview on November 7 – which took place at the conclusion of his visit to Cape Town, South Africa – the Prince of Wales explained how challenging the past several months have been.
Simply put, “It’s terrible,” William told reporters, according to the BBC. “This has probably been the hardest year of my life.”
How could it not happen, right?!?
In 2024, Kate Middleton and Prince Charles were both diagnosed with cancer.
The princess is feeling much better after various rounds of chemotherapy; However, there is talk that Charles has pancreatic cancer and so he does not have long to live.
The 42-year-old said it has been very difficult juggling his royal duties and family responsibilities, telling the press:
“It’s been really hard to get through everything else and keep everything on track.”
In general, William — who has children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, with Middleton — praised his father and his wife for staying strong during these diagnoses.
He added, “I’m very proud of my wife, I’m proud of my dad, for the job he’s done.” “But from a personal family standpoint, yes, it’s been brutal.”
When asked how Middleton – who confirmed on September 9 that she had completed cancer treatment – was doing, William said she was “doing good”, and, after being told she looked relaxed. Were, he said:

Speaking on this role, William cited the Earthshot Prize… a global environmental prize awarded to five winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism.
“Do I like more responsibility? No. Do I like the freedom that I can create something like Earthshot? So yes. And that’s the future for me,” he said.
“With my role and my platform, it is very important that I am doing something for good. I’m helping people’s lives and doing something that’s really meaningful.
“So, Earthshot is a culmination of all of that, if you like.”
