Prince Harry and Katie Couric’s history is strange and complicated.
Despite the years-long smear campaign, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still receive plenty of invitations and attend a number of events. It’s just that none of them involve other members of the British royal family.
Several events are being held in New York this week. Prince Harry is paying tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana.
But the Duke of Sussex may have an uncomfortable feud with Katie Couric.
Katie Couric and Prince Harry have met before
This might feel a little weird, but be patient.
On Tuesday, September 24, Prince Harry participated in the Everything Everywhere All at Once global issues panel at the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting.
Prince Harry, Chelsea Clinton, former president Bill Clinton, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the legendary Dame Jane Goodall are all part of the conversation. And so is Katie Couric.
In 2012, Katie Couric interviewed 27-year-old Prince Harry. This was around the time his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was celebrating her Diamond Jubilee.
Katie Couric reflected on this meeting with Prince Harry in her 2021 memoir, going thereSuffice it to say that the young prince did not make a good impression on her at the time.
According to his recollections, Prince Harry’s body smelled of cigarettes and alcohol, and this toxic scent “emanated from every pore.”
Are there any disagreements between Prince Harry and Katie Couric?
On the one hand, 27-year-olds are allowed to drink alcohol where it is legal. On the other hand, it is very inappropriate to attend an interview while intoxicated, even if you are 20 years old.
Of course, there’s no excuse for smoking cigarettes. It’s not a personal choice – as Katie Couric vividly recalls, the smell can be enough to ruin someone else’s day. Not to mention the health risks others face.
However, we can admit that Europe has a strange indifference to cigarette smoking, whereas the United States has not been so for many decades. Although Katie Couric’s journalistic career has spanned decades and the world, she finds it unpleasant and unprofessional. As do many of us.
Prince Harry is currently 40 years old. He was 27 years old in 2012. (In fact, his birthday was just last week)
The 27-year-old is old enough to know not to arrive smelling like the back door of a bad bar. However, a thirteen-year gap is enough for Prince Harry to grow up and change.
During this time, he found the love of his life. He married Meghan Markle. They have two beautiful children. And they began to live their lives, fleeing the toxic nightmare of the royal firm.
How was the panel?
Katie Couric moderated Tuesday’s panel. There, Prince Harry discussed an issue near and dear to his royal heart — African Parks.
People Nothing reports anything wrong. Harry discusses the role this park program plays in conservation, tackling climate change and more.
Harry’s involvement with African Parks began in 2016. As we’ve seen, a lot has changed since the interview with Katie Couric.
