Piers Morgan has a lot to say about the latest scandal involving Prince Harry.
And none of these show the Duke of Sussex in a very positive light.
As you may have heard, Prince Harry will be honored with the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the ESPYs this summer.
The award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the world … echoing the legacy of the former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger, who enlisted in the military after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Many don’t believe Harry deserves the honor – despite having served in the British Army for 10 years, including two tours as a helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.
He also launched the Invictus Games in 2014, a multi-sport, Paralympic-style games for injured or paralyzed servicemen and veterans.
This is not a bad resume
But controversy seems to be following Harry almost everywhere he goes at the moment.
In his column for the New York Post, Morgan was among those who questioned ESPN’s decision and took aim at Prince Harry, labelling him a “royal traitor”.
Morgan said of the man who gave up his professional football career to fight overseas. “Pat Tillman is an American hero, a man who gave up serving his country to serve himself.”
After this the journalist compared Tillman to Harry and said that Harry…
“A man who understood so little the meaning of the word ‘duty’ that he traded his job working for the public as a member of the British royal family for a life spent in California as a greedy, money-hungry celebrity who earns nothing in return for his royal titles.”
Morgan concluded his talk with this simple observation:
“Pat Tillman must be turning in his grave over this disgrace to his name.”
Morgan has targeted Harry and Meghan Markle at every chance he has gotten since they stepped away from their royal family duties in 2020.
But he is not alone in this matter.
Pat’s mother, Mary Tillman, recently told the Daily Mail, “I’m baffled as to why they chose such a controversial and divisive figure for this award”, and a few days ago she also said:
“There are recipients who are much more suitable.
“There are people working in the veterans community doing great things to help veterans.”
ESPN responded to this, saying:
“ESPN, in collaboration with the Tillman Foundation, is specially honoring Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex for the work of the Invictus Games Foundation, as the Foundation celebrates its 10th year of promoting healing through the power of sport for military service members and veterans around the world.
While we understand that not everyone will agree with all of the honorees selected for any award, the Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work and ESPN believes it is work worth celebrating.
