For months now, Paul Staehle and Karine Martins have been fighting for custody of their two young sons.
The two face off in most custody battles involving a pair of exes. Oddly enough, Paul and Karine are on the same side in this matter.
Neither Paul nor Karine currently has custody of Pierre and Ethan. They both want to change that.
Now, Paul has shared a milestone in his efforts to get his kids back. They have both completed a batter’s intervention program.
This week, Paul Staehle took to his Instagram Story to update his followers and other 90 Day Fiancé fans.
“Both me and Karine were ordered by CPS to complete this course,” he wrote in the caption.
Paul said that he and Karine had to meet this precondition “along with other schedules and requirements”.
Paul’s actual post was a picture (or maybe a scan) of a certificate.
It was a “Batterers Intervention Program Certificate of Completion”.
There, in strange letters, Paul had printed his name. Date of completion list January 13, 2023.
Why did Paul wait almost a month to share the news? With Paul, you’ll honestly never know.
But it is possible that he waited until Karine had completed her coursework and received her certificate. Eventually, his post suggested that he too had a matching certificate.
At the same time, they may have taken a few weeks to send the document to him. Paul must have felt he needed to upload the document in order to share the news.
As always, you never know what Paul might be thinking. Especially when it comes to what he posts on Instagram.

In fact, it is almost entirely due to Paul’s lack of a coherent filter that we have so much information on this perplexing mess.
In late 2021, a video hit social media, showing Karine pulling Paul’s hair.
The possible domestic incident occurred in front of one of their children.
Notoriously, Paul records everything in and around the house. This surefire practice has come before.
It is possible that Karine was physically abusing Paul when this happened. Some old fans suspect that the video may have been edited badly.
(Relatedly, many fans wonder if Paul released the video as retribution after Karine left… though that’s speculation.)
Whatever the case, this was the time that Karine lost custody of her sons.
Then, several months later, in 2022, 90 Day Fiancé Fans said that Pierre Stahle was a “missing person”.
Did Paul kidnap his young son? If yes then from whom? Well… it’s complicated.
Simply put, we know that Paul took Pierre to another state while traveling for work. At that point, apparently CPS came to check on Pierre and couldn’t find him.
It’s unclear what Paul was thinking at the time (are you seeing a pattern?) except that Pierre has attachment issues.
However, when she and Pierre return, they find themselves in family court. Like his predecessor, he no longer had custody of his two sons.
To Paul’s distress, his family couldn’t even take his children. Apparently the CPS did not consider him trustworthy, neither to care for the boys or to comply with court orders with regard to things such as supervision.
Since then Paul has made several, sometimes competing, claims about it.
At one point, he claimed that the Family Court and the CPS were on his back because Karine had told them he wanted to kill her.
More recently, Paul’s storyline has been that he allowed Karine to see the boys without supervision, and this cost him custody. Who knows?
We don’t know how many rounds Paul or Karine will have to go through to regain custody. If its even possible.
(Yes, the worse ones have regained custody. But the better ones have lost it. It’s not a good system, it’s just what we have)
