Olivia Plath is not backing down.
The longtime reality star shared a new TikTok video this week in which she took direct aim at her former in-laws and hit back hard at some of the criticism she received following her divorce from Ethan Plath.
In particular, Olivia had harsh words for Ethan’s parents.
“It was so harrowing to hear her parents say, ‘Yes, we knew they weren’t going to survive, there were some problems,'” Olivia says in the footage. “Bish, you were the one who carefully crafted and prepared that experience.”
“You’re the reason we didn’t know each other and by the way, you convinced me to marry your son and be a part of your family. So, you totally chose me.”
Yes, Olivia used that word Grooming,
This is a very clear and important word.
The Welcome to Plathville star confessed she had “no idea” who she was marrying or “what” she was getting into, adding that “I was like a child” when she said her vows.
There is some background behind all this.
Olivia did not get along well with anyone in Ethan’s family for a very long time; they believed she tried to distance their loved one from his relatives… and Ethan’s siblings even released a joint statement on August 22nd strongly criticizing Olivia.
“We as a family will not sit idly by and watch as our family is torn apart,” he wrote at the time, also accusing Olivia of trying to tear them apart.
The Plath family rose to fame in November 2019 when their TLC reality program premiered.
It chronicles the lives of Kim and Barry Plath in rural Georgia as parents to nine children – Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia and Mercy.
Extended families, which used to be part of their own group, now live in isolation with strict rules, including watching TV and drinking soda.
Such strict guidelines caused problems for Olivia over the years, as she often encouraged Ethan to break free from his parents and their controlling nature.
Now, Plath — who has a boyfriend — says her fundamentalist Christian upbringing was a “cult,” adding:
“I grew up in a world where women were expected to live their lives on the edge and let the people around them make decisions for them.
“I would wake up every day.
“Good luck trying to get me back to sleep. Because when you wake up and really realize what’s going on, you realize just how many people don’t have your best interests in mind, especially men.”
Olivia and Ethan Plath announce their decision to separate in October 2023 after five years of marriage.
“Ethan and I have decided to separate,” Olivia wrote on Instagram at the time.
“I have some vague memories of being 18, when we had innocent dreams of being together forever – but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I had no idea who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself.
“Seven years later, I have begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing, and rebuilding, and I know this is a process I will continue to prioritize for the rest of my life.”
