The world is mourning Liam Payne, but no one is mourning him except the people who knew him best.
Niall Horan has shared a touching statement following the devastating news of Liam Payne’s death, which happened just days after Horan’s concert in Buenos Aires.
In fact, a big reason Liam was in Argentina was to “sort things out” with Niall – but what that means is unclear.
The bond the two musicians formed during their time in One Direction was clearly important to Liam.
And with his statement, Niall revealed that he felt the same way.
Niall Horan mourns ‘brother’ Liam Payne
Niall last saw Liam just two weeks before his death on Wednesday after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
Since he was the last One Direction member to see him alive, it seems fitting that he would also be the last 1D member to pay tribute to his friend.
“I am absolutely devastated by the passing of my wonderful friend Liam. This doesn’t feel real at all,” Niall wrote on his Instagram alongside a photo of the two of them as teenagers.
“Liam had an energy for life and a passion for his work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and safe.
He said, “All the laughs and jokes we’ve had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, continue to come to mind through sadness.” “We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will forever cherish every moment we spent together. The bond and friendship that we had is something that does not happen often in a lifetime.”
Liam Payne travels to Argentina for Niall Horan
As it turns out, Liam Payne had traveled to Argentina to see Niall Horan in concert before his death.
Two weeks ago, on October 2, Liam attended one of Niall’s performances in Buenos Aires – but that wasn’t the only reason he was there.
Before they arrived, Liam said in a video on his Instagram Stories that he and Niall had things to “compromise.”
“We’re going to Argentina,” he said. “One, because we want to. Give, because we want to. And three, because Niall Horan is playing there and I think we can just go and say ‘Hello’.”
The late star said, “It’s been a long time since Niall and I talked. We have a lot to talk about and I’d like to sort some things out with the boy. No bad feelings or anything like that but we just need to talk.
Liam’s untimely death
It is terrible to lose a beautiful soul like Liam, especially at such a young age.
The former boy bander died outside a hotel in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires. Local police confirmed on Wednesday that Liam was found dead after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room.
In a statement, capital police said they were called to the hotel in Palermo, a leafy area of the capital, where they were informed of an “aggressive individual who may be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
Liam had been honest throughout the years about his troubles with alcohol addiction. However, in several videos he posted to his Snapchat Story in the hours before his shocking death, Liam looked at peace and happy.
In one of the since-deleted photos, he also shared with his fans that he was having a “lovely day” in Argentina spending time with girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
An incredibly terrifying moment was captured on film, knowing how the day would end for him.
Then, according to witnesses, Liam was behaving erratically in the hotel lobby during the day. He claims he broke his laptop and had to take it back to his room.
There is clearly still a lot to know about his death.
