Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin has filed a $100 million lawsuit against a woman who accused him of inappropriate behavior at the Dallas Marriott hotel. Due to the allegations against him, Irvin was dropped from Super Bowl coverage.
Irvin has filed a defamation suit, but the hotel chain has yet to present evidence to clear Irvin’s name in court. Mike Florio criticized the hotel for withholding the surveillance footage, saying the lawsuit is tilted in the former Cowboys catcher’s favor.
This is what Mike Florio had to say on Pro Football Talk:
“I always say this if someone is wrongly accused, I want to see them scream their innocence from the rooftops. I want to see them behave like someone who has been wrongly accused and immediately and aggressively pursue that lawsuit by trying to get video surveillance of the hotel.”
Florius continued:
“That has been the latest development. The lawyer is very angry. That was the quote from Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News that Marriott will not release this video. Why don’t you release the video?”
added:
“At some point, people like us will say that if you’re hiding this, you should know that the video undermines the basis of the complaint that was made against Michael Irvin.”
According to FOX4, Irvin recalled going back to the hotel after a night out. He said he took pictures with fans in the lobby, shook the woman’s hand and then went to her bedroom to sleep alone.
As a result, several sided with Irvin, calling for the hotel company to be sued.
Michael Irvin’s lawyer is furious with the hotel
According to the Dallas Morning News, the lead attorney for former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin expressed anger Tuesday that the lawsuit stalled. According to him, the hotel company has not presented crucial evidence that could clear its client’s name.

Irvin’s Dallas attorney, Levi McCathern, who filed the case Feb. 9 on his client’s behalf, said Marriott failed to submit any of the necessary records by Monday’s deadline.
He said repeated attempts to obtain the security tape on Tuesday were unsuccessful. In addition, a lawyer for Marriott did not respond to an email for comment on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how things play out from here, but as of now, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver is in a good spot.
