Details about Michael Ilesanmi and Angela Deem’s divorce are emerging.
In early 2024, Michael Ilesanmi went “missing” after moving to the US.
90 day fiance Fans soon learned that it was exactly as everyone thought. Michael had fled Angela’s house and their toxic marriage.
Looking into the former couple’s divorce filing gives us a glimpse of what they’re saying about each other.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi are finally getting divorced
The best time for Angela and Michael to get a divorce would have been before their ill-fated wedding in January 2020. But hey, at least it’s over.
However, this is not the divorce fans were hoping for. Angela Deem has filed for annulment of marriage, in order to end their marriage – and thus send Michael Ilesanmi back to Nigeria.
It’s a familiar dynamic. Seven years ago, the couple 90 day fiance “On the Map” – Daniel Mullins and Mohamed Jbali – had a similar bitter feud. But Angela and Michael are far more toxic than those two.
Angela Deem filed for annulment on June 20. She (of course) accused Michael of maintaining this long relationship and marriage for four years under the guise of fraud in order to obtain US residency and citizenship.
They alleged that he and others were involved in a conspiracy to deceive American women into becoming their wives.
Now, Starcism Report on Michael’s response to Angela Deem’s divorce petition. Michael wants a divorce from Angela, and his petition details how he was surviving her “cruel behavior” and “physical and mental abuse.”
Is Michael Ilesanmi admitting to fraud?
Michael Ilesanmi has denied Angela Deem’s cheating allegations in his request for divorce.
He confirmed that their relationship was genuine. Michael and Angela began dating sometime around or before 2018, and only broke up in early 2024.
According to Michael’s divorce filing, he did not abandon Angela. Rather, he fled from his abusive husband for his own safety.
As far as the paperwork goes, Michael Ilesanmi’s divorce request details that his marriage to Angela Deem was legal and valid.
The two got married in Lagos, Nigeria on January 27, 2020. Although they spent most of their marriage apart due to immigration constraints, they remained husband and wife during this time.
There are many ways to prove a marriage is fraudulent. But this was a voluntary marriage between two parties who physically consummated the marriage.
Michael wants a divorce from Angela, does not want an annulment of the marriage
In his divorce application, Michael sought that “petitioner’s request for annulment of marriage be dismissed as frivolous and unfounded, as she failed to adduce any statutory basis for the claim and because she is fully aware that the marriage was and remains valid.”
But Michael and Angela agree on one thing. Michael believes the marriage cannot be saved. But she believes it must be “ended by divorce.”
In particular, he points out that Angela’s brutal behaviour means that divorce is their sole recourse and only solution.
Michael Ilesanmi’s application for divorce alleges that Angela Deem subjected him to “physical and mental abuse” during their marriage.
According to Michael, this abuse occurred both in private and in public.
90 day fiance Viewers are well aware of how Angela has verbally, emotionally, and mentally attacked Michael. In addition, Angela has also physically attacked Michael in front of the camera.
However, he wants the support of his spouse
Michael is still a newcomer to the United States. Meanwhile, Angela is a US resident and has profited from paid performances for many years. She has profited from her marriage to Michael, even though her current money-making prospects are quite limited.
So, in his filing, Michael has asked for spousal support. He is demanding that they divide shared assets equally. And Michael has requested the court to order that Angela pay his fees and lawsuit costs.
Finally, Michael’s filing reminds Angela that she cannot remove evidence (such as videos) that Michael could use to prove his point in court. It will be interesting to know what (alleged) evidence Michael intends to present in court.
