MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico’s Senate on Thursday approved a measure to abolish most autonomous bodies that regulate some economic sectors and ensure government transparency, a reform that could worsen tensions with the United States and affect ratings credit.

Upper house lawmakers voted on the general terms of the proposal with 86 in favor and 42 against, with almost the same count for the particular terms of the bill.
