Earlier this week, Samantha Cope filed for divorce from Joey Lawrence, marking the third failed marriage of the actor’s adult life.
Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the couple’s split after two years as husband and wife, Cope is seeking full physical custody of the couple’s 19-month-old daughter, Dylan … as well as allowing Lawrence to visit her at his discretion.
Meanwhile, according to various sources, Cope believes their marriage failed because Lawrence was having an affair with Alves, who was her co-star in the movie Sucked In for Christmas.
Now, Alves has spoken out about these allegations.
“First off, I want to make it clear that there was no sexual relationship between Joey and I while we were filming ‘Socked In For Christmas,'” Elwes wrote on Instagram.
“Our relationship was a meaningful friendship that developed naturally because of the many similarities in our personal situations.”
Elwes said she was “immediately struck by her kindness, warmth and genuine character” and that the actors “found common ground in our shared experiences”, which became the foundation of their “strong, supportive friendship that has been a source of strength for both of us.”
Still, she insists there was nothing romantic about their relationship.
In what she referred to as “the context of these allegations,” Alves said she and her ex-husband, Edward Ryder, have been separated since January 2023 and “have been living in separate rooms since that time.”

Alves said he has also filed a temporary restraining order against Ryder, concluding in his post:
