As you may have heard by now, there has been much controversy surrounding the upcoming coronation of King Charles.
Much of the drama has had to do with the question of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attendance.
After months of uncertainty, we now know that Harry Desire attend the coronation while Meghan will stay at home in California with the couple’s two children.
The arrangement appears to be the result of an agreement between Harry and his family.
And we’re sure Meghan is pretty okay with that arrangement, because she’d probably be having a hell of a time in London.
Meghan faced all kinds of abuse when she went to London for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year, and there’s no reason to believe this visit would have been any different.
Insiders say Prince William and Kate Middleton are thrilled that Meghan won’t be attending, so we guess the compromise worked out for everyone.
In a new interview with Fox News, author and royal expert Christopher Anderson says Meghan made the right call, as the trip would have been bad for her relationship with her in-laws… and even worse for her mental health .
Anderson explained, “Harry will be cheered, but he will also probably be booed, and he is also likely to feel sidelined and marginalised.”
“But there’s no doubt it was the right decision. I’m sure King Charles is breathing a sigh of relief. As compromises go, it’s a good one.”
Anderson says, however, that Meghan probably has mixed feelings about the fact that her husband will be attending the historic event without her.
Anderson added, “However, one has to wonder how Meghan feels about all of this.”
“Did she fully support Harry’s decision to go alone, or did she beg him to stay with her and the children in Montecito? Was this a point of contention between them?” He asked.
“If it was a joint decision, it shows a level of maturity and unity in the marriage that should be admired.
“However, if Meghan is only reluctantly supporting or opposing Harry’s decision, you can only imagine how strained their marriage may be going forward,” Anderson continued.
“My guess is they both understand this is a do or die moment in their relationship with the royal family. I don’t think Charles or [Prince] Will William ever forgive Harry if he doesn’t show up.
Yep, as much as she knows her staying home is best for everyone, Meghan probably isn’t too pleased with such a public victory over her in-laws.
But according to journalist Omid Scobie, Harry will likely show his loyalty by whisking his wife out of England once the ceremony is over.
Scobie tweeted, “Hopefully it will be a very quick trip to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.”
We’re sure Harry would have preferred to skip the test entirely – but at least he’s doing his best to keep everyone happy.
No easy feat with this group!
