Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell have broken up.
Four years ago, Rachael competed in Matt’s historic season the Bachelor and won.
Despite the controversy, the two have remained together – with a temporary breakup in 2021.
Now, it’s over, Matt shares the split news in the form of a prayer.

Early in the morning on Thursday, January 16, Matt James took to Instagram.
There he shared an old photo of himself with Rachael Kirkconnell.
Both of them have broken up. Instead of simply announcing the news, he revealed it in the form of a Christian prayer.
He asked, “Oh God, give Rachel and I the strength to mend our broken hearts.”
Matt James’ caption continued, “Give us peace about this decision to end our relationship that is beyond earthly understanding.”
“Please shower kindness and love on our friends and family to console us,” he requested. “And remind us that our happiness comes from you, Lord.”
That same Thursday morning, a few hours after Matt’s post, Rachel still hadn’t posted anything of the sort.
Her last photos and videos featuring Matt came a month earlier – on December 5, 2024.
However, she hasn’t updated her Instagram page since then, so it’s not like there were a series of selfies without Matt hinting at solo adventures and perhaps a split.
Matt’s latest post featuring Rachael is from Wednesday, January 15th. The video shows the two of them eating pizza and, presumably in exchange for money, suggests that people intentionally eat British food.
(Many, many of Matt’s posts are short videos of him or Rachel or both of them eating food. We all love food, but this is a far cry from Rachel’s gallery of romantic photos from their four-year relationship.)
Aside from the 2021 interruption, Matt and Rachel have been together since filming their season in late 2020. season 25 the Bachelor It began airing almost exactly four years ago, in early January 2021.
Is this another example of ‘The Bachelor’ curse, so to speak?
Reality television is a terrible place to get to know someone. This is an even worse place to fall in love. Why? Because people rarely act their most authentic when they know they’re on camera.
However, Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell haven’t broken up in four months. They parted ways after four years together, during which time only one scandal caused the split.
Compared to the back-to-back nightmares that, say, Becca Kufrin endured with Arie and then Garrett, we’d say she got a pretty good deal out of it. A normal, four-year relationship. This is not a reality TV curse; It’s just life.
