The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor in the United States, awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation’s security, world peace, or public and cultural endeavors.
On January 4, 2025, President Joe Biden bestowed this prestigious honor on 19 individuals, including George Soros, Hillary Clinton, and Denzel Washington. Soros, who has a net worth of $9 billion (according to celebritynetworth.com), is a prominent donor to the Democratic Party.
Elon Musk, who has an estimated net worth of $460 billion, criticized the decision to honor Soros. He shared an AI-generated meme on X (formerly Twitter), comparing Soros to Darth Sidious, a Star Wars character.
“George Soros looks pretty good here. Must be the lighting,” Musk wrote.
Martina Navratilova, who has a history of criticizing Musk, particularly for his management of X and his support for President-elect Donald Trump, responded to the meme by calling Musk a “narrow-minded man.”
