Maria Georgas wants to clarify the matter.
The former Bachelor sweetheart, who was a contestant on Joey Graziadei’s season of the ABC franchise, made news this week after Jane Tran wrapped up her stint as The Bachelorette.
In a heart-wrenching manner.
On Tuesday night’s After the Final Rose special, we learned that Tran proposed to Devin Strader several months ago — but called off the engagement after Strader made the wrong decision.
“He was making bold declarations of love and then all of a sudden the next day he wasn’t saying anything at all and he denied ever being in love,” Tran explained on air to host Jesse Palmer, saying of her ex-fiancé:
“All the promises he made to me, all the love he wanted to give me, it’s all gone now.”
During the same episode, Tran revealed that Stryder took her clubbing in New York City after asking for a place. And she started following Georges on Instagram.
“Just got back from a peaceful trip,” Georgas wrote on his Instagram Story in response to the drama on September 4. “This is not something I wanted to come home to but I have something to say and I won’t say anything this time.”
One day later Maria told everything.
“Last night was hard to watch and my heart goes out to Jen,” Mariah said on TikTok about Strader allegedly breaking up with Tran in a 15-minute phone call, which Devin has denied. “I really think a lot of those conversations should have happened off camera.”
Georges, who actually turned down an offer to be The Bachelorette, added:
“I think Jen should speak out about this. Say your piece, girlfriend, I respect that. I think without the full context, it leads people to believe a different story.”
What about the infamous Devin Strader Instagram followers?
Maria said, “Friends, I don’t pay attention to who follows me and who doesn’t. I have no idea about this. I didn’t know until people brought it to my attention. And by the time I found out, he had unfollowed me.”
He then made his relationship (or lack thereof) with Strader as clear as possible on social media, saying:
“Let me make one thing clear. I have never met Devin before. I have never gone clubbing with him. I have never stalked him. I have nothing to do with the end of the relationship.”
Yes, Georges admitted, she did go out with a few guys one night, including Jeremy Simon, another boyfriend from Tran’s season.
He and Tran aren’t close at this point, but that doesn’t mean there’s hostility between him and the heartbroken reality star.
“Enough of pitting women against each other,” Maria said. “The last thing I want to do is have this weird storyline where Jen and I are pitted against each other. Just because we’ve parted ways and we’re no longer friends doesn’t mean we hate each other.
“That doesn’t mean that if somebody is going to insult him in front of me I’m going to sit here and insult him. Because I won’t.”
For his part, Strader has argued that Tran had tried to break up with him and that he wanted to end the romance in person.
But he has also taken responsibility for acting in an inappropriate and unreasonable manner.
“When we left the show, I had a lot of doubts and regrettably and sadly I repressed those feelings, and I’ve opened up to you about that,” he told Tran, later adding:
“I disappointed you… I’m sorry I was late in telling you.”
