Kylie Kelce was brutally bullied about her height during her teenage years.
Late last year, Kylie Kelce launched her own podcast, which instantly gained ratings among viewers.
Now, the wife of former NFL player Jason Kelce is introducing fans to things about her life they never knew.
For example, she experienced years of brutal body-shaming. Why? Because she is tall.
Kylie Kelce was 5’10” as a high school freshman
While 5-foot-10 probably isn’t “tall” in the grand scheme of things (surely it starts above 6 feet, right?), teen bullying isn’t about reality. It’s about finding a potential vulnerability and strike,
During a recent episode of I will not lie podcast, the expectant mom chatted with Drew Afuaolo — an influencer but fellow tall woman — about the process of overcoming those insecurities.
Kylie’s father is 6 feet 9 inches tall. As a result, he did not feel good at home. She still doesn’t — because her husband is Jason Kelce. As she says, it’s easy to feel like a “normal size” or even a “little girl” when current and former football players fill your life.
“Some people bullied me mercilessly,” she said of her early high school experiences.
“One of the worst ones was the guy whose insults were always like, ‘You’re so big, you’re a man,'” Kylie Kelce recalled of classmates who ridiculed her height.
For some time the cruelty did its job by hurting his self-esteem. Only as a high school senior did she readjust her perspective. How? By understanding the real intentions of his miscreants.
‘I had to change the story’
Kylie wisely shared, “It took me probably until my senior year to say, ‘Hey, you’re crazy that you’re not my size.’
After this realization, she began to see these intended insults as compliments. Like. maybe you will like more Compliment in disguise.
“There was a time when I used to say, ‘Don’t call me big.’ I’ll be like, ‘I’m not big, I’m tall,’ or, ‘My thighs aren’t big, I’m strong,'” she explained.
“I had to change the story,” Kylie Kelce then confirmed.
He explained that he was focused on making sure “those words didn’t affect me as much as they wanted.”
It’s important to remember that all forms of body shaming are always wrong. Plus, it often misrepresents people’s bodies. (However, this is wrong even when the details are accurate!)
What is Kylie Kelce’s height today?
Even today, IMDB lists Kylie Kelce’s height as 5 feet, 11 inches. It’s above average, but she’s not going to be going into battle with Godzilla any time soon.
There’s an important lesson in life: Don’t pay undue attention to the insults of people who think 5-foot-10 inches is “tall.” They’re clearly working through their insecurities.
Or, more commonly, don’t internalize the bully’s insults.
