King Charles is celebrating his 76th birthday today.
And the occasion is made even more special by the fact that the royals have faced a year of tremendous upheaval.
Charles is still battling cancer, but in keeping with his working reputation, he will be devoting his birthday to carrying out his royal duties.
King Charles dedicated his birthday to service
Charles will reportedly spend his day at a “surplus food festival” as part of the Coronation Food Project, which he launched last year.
According to a new report from PeopleThe project is designed to “tackle food waste and food insecurity across the UK”.
Demonstrating to the world that he remains an adept king despite recent challenges, Charles will spend his birthday touring the facilities and speaking with workers and beneficiaries of the project.
Charles receives warm wishes from Prince William and Kate Middleton
The Windsors are generally not a very demonstrative family, but they do wish each other happy birthdays publicly via social media.
Prince William and Kate Middleton continued the tradition today with an Instagram post saluting Charles.
On their official account, the couple posted a photo from Charles’s recent trip to Samoa.
Her caption read, “Wishing His Majesty the King a very happy birthday today.”
It is unclear whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have contacted Charles. The couple is not currently active on social media.

In addition to Charles’s health issues, the royals have had to deal with several other crises in recent months.
Kate Middleton is still battling cancer, although her condition appears to be improving. The Princess of Wales recently revealed that she has completed chemotherapy.
And in recent weeks, reports of Charles’ feud with Prince Andrew have dominated newspaper headlines in Britain.
“It has been terrible. This has probably been the hardest year of my life,” the Prince of Wales said during a recent appearance at the Earthshot Awards
“So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”
No doubt Charles and the rest of the royal family are praying for a less eventful 2025.
