Kelly Monaco breaks silence on shocking General Hospital exit

Kelly Monaco has something to say.

As you may recall, the veteran actress was fired from General Hospital at the end of this summer… which is a surprising development considering the star has played Sam McCall since 2003.

Not much information was released at the time about what happened.

According to Soap Opera Network, which broke the unexpected news in August, Monaco was “blindsided” by the shooting.

Based on his first comments after his ouster, this report appears to be accurate.

Monaco captioned a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram this weekend, “Last scene with the Davis girls,” adding without explanation and nervously:

“Still doesn’t make any sense to me.”

General Hospital viewers were introduced to McCall on October 1, 2003, having previously seen Monaco as Livvy Locke on the short-lived General Hospital spinoff Port Charles.

(Lindsay Hartley briefly applied for Monaco in 2020, 2022 and 2024.)

Monaco received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2006 for this iconic role.

She was previously nominated in the supporting category for playing Livvy on Port Charles in 2003.

Elsewhere, Monaco competed on the first season of Dancing with the Stars 19 years ago – and actually won the inaugural Mirror Ball trophy.

In 2012, the actress was a contestant on the All-Stars edition of the show… in which Monaco and her professional partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, finished in third place.

In 2017, Monaco returned to Dancing with the Stars once again to perform the Rumba with Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke.

In the comments section of the post, Grahan offered some words of encouragement.

”’Between every difficulty lies an opportunity.” – Albert Einstein,’ Gran told his friend. “I love you. Everything is going to be okay. There are some things only a TV mom knows.

The cast of General Hospital has undergone several significant changes over the past few months, beginning in April when it was announced that Nicholas Alexander Chavez would not be returning to the role of Spencer.

In June, Michael Easton announced his sudden exit as Hamilton Finn, a role he played for a decade.

This departure was followed by Return Rick Hurst as Rick Lansing and Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer; Both in August.

No one from ABC has said anything about Monaco’s firing yet, but it looks like a deal has been reached.

How will we know? Insiders say McCall will be written out of the soap opera.
