We’re just days away from the premiere of Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle/cooking show. And it’s been a long time since a Netflix series has generated this much buzz.
But while customers around the world may be eager to see Meghan’s latest project, it looks like the Duchess’s in-laws will continue to get their kitchen tips elsewhere.
Yes, in what may be the least surprising development this week, it seems that Kate Middleton and Prince William No be tuning in With love, Meghan,
(Side note: Is it too late to do something about that title? It sounds like an old-fashioned soap opera where Meg ends each episode by writing in her diary.)
Kate Middleton has no interest in Meghan Markle’s new show
Speaking to Fox News, journalist and royal expert Kinsey Scofield insisted that Will and Kate will not watch a second of Meghan’s new show.
“I was told that the Prince and Princess of Wales have no interest in Meghan’s future projects,” Scofield told the outlet.
“A palace source told me, ‘Meghan was a background character in a chapter that has already been closed.’ Courtiers don’t believe Meghan is worth the mental real estate.
But that doesn’t mean Buckingham Palace isn’t interested in Meghan’s latest venture.
Meghan is being investigated
Scofield added, “The palace plans to appoint someone of lower rank to sit in on the show, so the communications office will have to be on alert to see if anything needs to be done.”
“Netflix is not giving screeners to the Palace or anyone so they can watch it in real time with the audience,” he said.
Scofield commented that the royals are relieved that Meghan is going in Martha Stewart’s direction with her new project and likely won’t be commenting on any royal drama.
He added, “With respect to the dull celebrity-centric topic, the courtiers are grateful that Meghan took a break from attacking the institution.”
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams echoed Scofield’s claims, insisting the royals “couldn’t care less” about Meghan’s new show.
“Meghan still makes news and the Sussex brand still fascinates,” he said. “But… [the series] I felt very superficial. I wondered where the Kardashians were. The royals couldn’t care less.”
Of course, he’s kidding, but Meghan probably wouldn’t mind a cameo from Kim & Co.!
After all, the stakes for her new show couldn’t be higher, and all publicity is good publicity.
Meghan and Harry’s previous Netflix series, poloIt landed with poor reviews and minimal viewership.
His previous project – a doc about Harry’s participation in the Invictus Games – didn’t fare too well.
2024 was a year of declining popularity and professional setbacks for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
They’re probably hoping to change things up in 2025 – and we’re sure they’ll love it if Meg returns with a new show next week.
