Justin Timberlake has broken his silence regarding his recent arrest.
The veteran singer was taken into custody just after midnight on June 18 after he allegedly ignored a stop sign after hanging out with friends at a hotel in Sag Harbor, New York.
According to the arresting officer, Timberlake refused to submit to a breath test at the scene, and was charged with one count of driving under the influence and two citations, one for violating a stop sign and another for failing to stay in lane.
He is scheduled to appear in court for hearing on July 26.
Based on police records, we know Timberlake told cops he only had one martini before getting behind the wheel of his BMW … but we haven’t gotten a straight answer from the artist yet.
By Wednesday afternoon.
in a manner of speaking.
On June 19, attorney Edward Burke Jr. issued a statement that read as follows:
“Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have much more to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting the full investigation from the DA’s Office.”
Fortunately, no one was injured in this week’s incident, while Sag Harbor police released a statement following the arrest:
On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 a.m., Justin R. Timberlake, 43, of Tennessee was observed traveling southbound on Madison Street in a 2025 BMW, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel.
A traffic stop was conducted by a police officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle while intoxicated.
After an officer conducted a traffic stop, officers found that Timberlake’s “eyes were red and glassy, his breath smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage, he was unable to pay attention, his speech was slurred, he was unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
Timberlake was later released without posting bail.
The singer will return to the stage in Chicago on June 21 for the next leg of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, and will also perform in New York and Boston later this month.
According to TMZ, he has no plans to go to rehab or take any “active” steps to address any alcohol problems.
Timberlake plans to continue his tour amid the controversy.
As People magazine reports, his wife Jessica Biel is “not happy” with her husband (whose photo has gone viral) and his actions.
An insider told the outlet that she is starring in a new Amazon Prime series and “doesn’t like any attention on the family, especially not negative.”
However, Biel will remain with Timberlake. Now and forever, that’s what the source says.
“He’s a great father and husband,” the source added.
