John Lineker vs. Fabricio Andrade II
John Lineker vs. Fabricio Andrade II

On Friday night, Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker were in the main event spotlight at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand for a rematch of the ONE world bantamweight championship. The hard-hitting Brazilians put on another dazzling fireworks display that kept fans in Bangkok and viewers around the world on the edge of their seats.

John Lineker immediately went firing on all cylinders looking for an early knockout of Fabricio Andrade. ‘Wonder Boy’ managed to avoid any serious danger while Andrade continued his pursuit. Initially, Andrade struggled to find range on him, but with about two minutes left in the first round, Andrade managed to uncork a massive right hand that he landed. Lineker, who was clearly reeling, went into survival mode when Andrade smelled blood in the water earlier.

Andrade was swarming looking to finish in the first, but John Lineker saved him the bell.

Undeterred, John Lineker once again came out and immediately pressed, looking to land one of his trademark looping hooks, though ‘Hands of Stone’ began to struggle to find his target as Andrade took advantage of his reach by setting up his jab. The second and third rounds were quite competitive, but things turned quickly in the fourth.

With just over a minute to go in the fourth round, Andrade began to unload on John Lineker, opening his opponent and causing ‘Hands of Stone’ to spurt blood. Smelling blood in the water again, Andrade gave chase, but Lineker was once again saved by the bell.

When it was time for the fighters to come out for the fifth round, John Lineker remained on his bench. ONE commentator Mitch Chilson confirmed that Lineker’s corner had thrown in the towel after a cut prevented him from seeing. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight and declared Fabricio Andrade the winner.

Official Result: Fabricio Andrade def. John Lineker via TKO (retirement) at 5:00 of Round 4 to capture the ONE World Bantamweight Championship
