Joseph Maldonado-Passage – better known as Exotic – first rose to fame back in 2020 as Netflix’s wildly popular controversial star tiger king Documentary film.
And if you’re one of the millions who tuned in, we probably don’t need to tell you that the former zookeeper’s story didn’t have a happy ending.
Allen is currently in federal prison, serving a 22-year sentence on murder-for-hire charges.
And it seems as though he has now given up any hope of one day regaining his freedom.
Exotic is battling cancer, and according to a new report from TMZ, the condition is critical.
The cancer has spread from Joe’s prostate to his bladder, and insiders say he has refused treatment and accepted the fact that he will die behind bars.
“I want to be here and just let it go,” Exotic wrote in a letter obtained by the outlet.
From the moment of his arrest, Exotic has stated that he is not guilty of hiring a hitman to assassinate his professional rival. tiger king co-star, Carole Baskin.
And while he will not be seeking treatment for his current illness, he says he is not giving up his fight for justice.
“The world needs to know how corrupt our justice system is,” Exotic wrote in his letter.
“If I am to die here innocently fighting for the truth, then perhaps the people of the world will finally speak for the truth for once.”
Exotic had previously signed a do-not-resuscitate form and turned over all of her possessions to her new fiancé, Seth Posey, whom she had met online through a prison penpal program.
Joe reportedly received the dire diagnosis from his urologist on Wednesday and decided not to seek treatment right away.
In the letter obtained by TMZ, he concluded on a grim note, explaining that he expected to die soon and only expected to meet his fiancée face-to-face before the end came.
“I could care less about dying, my birthday is coming up soon and all I want is to see Seth,” Foreigner wrote.
As TMZ notes, Joe will turn 60 next month, and he still has about 20 years left on his sentence.
So there was always the possibility that he might not have lived long enough to get parole.
But now it seems that he has completely given up on this possibility.
