It’s been almost a week since the release of Jinger Duggar’s memoir, and fans have spent all that time dissecting the book for detailed details about the former reality star’s controversial family.

For the most part, these people are disappointed, as Ginger’s book focuses more on her own spiritual journey than her family’s scandals.

But that doesn’t mean Jinger isn’t willing to discuss her rapidly deteriorating family situation.

In fact, as a recent interview with E! News reminded us, it’s nearly impossible for her to candidly discuss her faith without talking about her upbringing.

At one point, Ginger is asked about her feelings about her first book, which she co-wrote with sisters Jana, Jill, and Jessa.

Topic growing up duggarThe work was essentially a spiritual manifesto and passionately defended the Duggars’ controversial way of life.

Not surprisingly, Ginger isn’t up to the task today.

“In that book I shared many of the principles by which I was raised [IBLP founder] Bill Gothard’s teachings, and I encourage young girls to courtship, to follow certain directions, to listen to certain types of music, and now I look at it and say, ‘Ugh. did i encourage him? ‘” Ginger told E!

“My younger self would have seen [the book’s teachings] And said, ‘Oh, that’s great.’ But now I look at it and I’m like, ‘Oh, I wish I hadn’t said that,'” she continued.

“I wish I could go back to the girls who bought my other book and say, ‘Ugh, don’t read this!’

Jinger recently revealed that she no longer talks to Josh Duggar, who is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence for child pornography.

But she says she’s still very close with some of her siblings, including three sisters with whom she co-wrote growing up duggar,

“I think all my older sisters [Jana, Jessa and Jill]I’m very close with my little sister Joy,” said Ginger.

“We sisters have always had such a strong bond and I keep in touch with all of them often because it is so easy to be able to FaceTime even when I am far away from them. So we still have a close relationship,” Jill explained.

As for the rest of her family – well, we think it’s safe to say that the Duggars aren’t as close as they used to be.

“I hope a lot of members of my family read this book,” Ginger said at one point in the interview.

The comment appears to be Ginger’s way of confirming that she is not on speaking terms with most of her siblings.

And what about her parents, who had previously disowned Ginger as a result of her rebellious nature?

Ginger says that both sides have “simply sought to talk about the things they care about and agree to disagree sometimes.”

Needless to say, it looks like there’s still a lot of tension between the Duggars.

But hopefully Ginger will have no regrets in telling her side of the story.
