Jen Shah reports to prison, begins serving 6 1/2 year sentence in Texas

Jane Shah is no longer a free woman.

the former real housewives of salt lake city The star reported today to a federal prison in Texas to serve his 6 and 1/2 year sentence.

Back in July of 2022, Shah pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors say the 49-year-old masterminded a telemarketing scheme designed to defraud the elderly and con them out of their savings.

We’re here to get pretty up close and personal with Zain Shah. She is going to jail for a long time.

In her tearful guilty plea, Jane insisted that she had acted out of ignorance and understood the ramifications of her actions.

Shah told the court, “With proper medication now I can see what happened.”

Prosecutors weren’t buying it and asked the judge to lock him up for a decade.

Shah’s husband wrote to the judge and begged for a lenient sentence (under federal guidelines he could have been jailed for up to 30 years), and it looks like his words may carry some serious weight.

Six and a half years is not a drop in the bucket, but it could have been much worse.

And hey, Jen may soon have some famous company, as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is set to begin serving 11 years in the same prison in April!

Future besties, maybe?

“Jane Shah’s determination to make victims whole and transform their lives is unwavering,” Shah’s attorney Priya Chowdhary said in a statement released Thursday.

The statement continued, “He is committed to serving his sentence with courage and purpose, driven by a desire to make amends for the injury he caused and to help others in his new community.”

“Nothing will stop Jane from making the most of her time in prison, and she is determined to make amends to those whose lives she has impacted,” Chowdhury said.

“Her road ahead will be filled with challenges, but with the unwavering love and support of her family and friends, Jen is prepared to face these challenges and emerge from this experience a better person who makes a positive impact on others.” “

Only time will tell about that last part, obviously.

But regardless of what kind of effect prison has on him, Shah won’t be able to go back to his old ways right off the bat.

He will have to undergo five years of supervised release, including mandatory mental health counseling.

So yes, while she may not have received the 10-year sentence that prosecutors had in mind, Jane will be well into her sixties before she’s completely out from under the government’s thumb.

If Bravo still exists at that point, we’re sure Andy Cohen would be more than happy to welcome her back to the Housewives franchise.

He will have quite a story to tell.
