Jason Duggar is under fire for more reasons than just supporting Trump.
But his surprising political perspective is certainly a big part of it.
With the dire consequences of the 2024 election looming, Jason Duggar celebrated Trump’s victory on social media. Maybe he thought no one would notice, or maybe he just didn’t care.
However, longtime Duggars watchers noticed. And this misogynistic turn is as surprising as Jason’s politics.
What did Jason Duggar say about Donald Trump?
On Tuesday, November 5, Americans voted. A shocking number of voters chose disgraced former President Donald Trump to retake the White House, ushering in years of potential chaos, despair and lasting national damage.
The same voters were in a celebratory mood. And Jason Duggar was one of them.
Check out this post on Instagram, which Jason didn’t post himself but “liked.”
“She single-handedly stopped America from having its first female president twice,” the image reads, along with a generic photo of Donald Trump.
The caption then invites, “If you’re Trump’s top guy, follow me.”
As you can see, Jason Duggar liked the post. Perhaps he forgot that likes are visible. Or maybe he just didn’t care.
Looks like Jason Duggar went full-on misogynistic for Trump
On Reddit, users of the /DuggarSnark subreddit discussed the post under the topic: “Screw you Jason Duggar.”
It wasn’t just about Jason’s support for Trump. Most people believe that most or all of the Duggars support Trump. Key pillars of Trumpism include Christian nationalism, white supremacy, and other values that are very consistent with the Duggar brand of Christian fundamentalism.
Still, Jason Duggar’s inclusion in the exclusive celebration of zero female presidents really got people upset.
One Reddit citizen commented: “And yet his brother Z got beat by a woman.” Good point!
There are people who pretend that their Trump votes came from a place of “economic concern” (and yet they vote to make the economy worse? Get it!). But the refreshing honesty of blatant misogyny wasn’t winning Jason any praise.
Another Redditor admitted, “I have some family members who vote conservative but would never support it.” “Just shows you once again the Duggars are extremists.”
Is open misogyny part of the Duggar family’s ideology?
Most of the Duggar family avoids openly expressing bigotry. Arguably this has more to do with their family brand – an attempt to make their lifestyle seem over-the-top, as if it were an oddity and not a generational tyranny.
However, this means that his political beliefs sometimes surprise fans. It’s easy to look at the younger Duggars (Jason is 24) and especially the Duggars daughters and see them as victims. and they are! Victims of their parents, and victims of a distorted and abusive community.
But even those who have distanced themselves from Duggar beliefs still hold extremist views, which those who would love to root for them find appalling. Jason is considerably less empathetic… and, clearly, he’s taken the Duggar cult’s teachings about the value of women to heart.
