Jana Duggar’s wedding dress has sparked unexpected controversy.
As you may know by now, Jana married Stephen Wissman last month in front of about 500 guests.
The move shocked fans, as it seemed Jana and Stephen had broken up after a brief romance a few years ago.
But even more surprising to some Duggar watchers was the dress Jana wore ahead of her big day.

Like many other brides-to-be, Jana tried on several dresses before finding the perfect one.
She opted for a “modest”, conservative option that complied with the rules of the infamous Duggar dress code.
But the dress Jana wore to her fitting was downright risqué, even by her conservative family’s standards.
Fans were impressed by Jana’s willingness to break her parents’ rules so publicly.
This might not look like a very revealing outfit (and it isn’t), but Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar want their daughters to keep all of their body parts covered at all times.

Many commenters were surprised that Jana not only tried the dress on, but also shared a video of the fitting on a public platform.
“I’m even more surprised that he kept it on video,” one viewer wrote.
“Same, at first I thought it was someone else,” another agreed.
Michelle Duggar’s absence surprises people
Several commenters pointed out that Michelle Duggar was absent at the fitting.
Many of the Duggar kids are semi-estranged from their parents, and some fans are wondering if Jana has joined that club, too.
One person asked, “I don’t feel like watching the video, did he mention his mother’s absence?”

Is Jana distancing herself from her family?
We’ll probably never know why Michelle was absent from Jana’s fitting. But some fans think it’s one of many signs that Jana is trying to put some distance between herself and her parents.
It is rumored that Jana and Stephen are now married and are planning to relocate to her hometown in Nebraska.
And Jana has already changed her last name. Obviously, there’s nothing unusual about this move, but some Duggar observers have taken it as a sign that she’s fed up with her family.
“Whoomp, it’s here,” one Reddit user wrote alongside a screenshot of Jana’s updated Instagram page.
“Leaving the Dagger is a bad habit,” another said.
“Honestly, Wissman is a great last name. I’d lose my Duggar name very soon,” a third commented.
Another user wrote, “Wonder when she will update her location in her bio.”
It may take some time for Jana to give fans information about her life as a married woman.
But she is definitely enjoying this great change in her life!
