James Duggar is having the time of his life these days.
As we previously reported, the 21-year-old son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar has broken his family’s notoriously strict rules and customs by embarking on an impromptu tour of Europe.
And much to the delight of fans, he has been documenting the journey on social media.
First, James traveled to London, where he violated his family’s code of conduct by eating at a pub.
(As far as we can tell, James didn’t take any swigs, but just the presence of alcohol is a no-no in the Duggars’ world!)
From there, it was on to Rome, where James met his eldest sister, Jana.
(Jan was breaking the rules for Duggar women by traveling without a chaperone, and you can be sure that her parents No Happy about James’ bad influence!)
Insiders say James’ parents have been pretty vocal about their displeasure with his trip and his social media content.
And while they’ve made some concessions — James reportedly removed the title “Duggars Gone Wild” from his YouTube channel at the request of his parents — it looks like he has no plans to slow down his journey.
From Rome, James made his way north to Venice, where he photographed the photo below.
From there, he and a friend named Elijah make their way to Switzerland, where they encounter some “wild” times at a pre-Lenten carnival.
“So apparently there’s a carnival that only happens once a year and we’re right in the middle of it!!!” Elijah explained in an Instagram Story.
“Absolutely amazing!!!” He added.
It looks like James and Elijah traveled to the famously neutral and mountainous nation to do some skiing, but they were surprised to find themselves at the center of Schmutziger Donnerstag, or Fat Thursday, celebrations.
Jim Bob doesn’t even profess Catholicism, so you can be sure he’s not thrilled with the idea of his son participating in pre-Lent debauchery.
Perhaps that’s why James made sure to document some of the quieter times of the trip as well.
“Me and Elijah sitting in our room right now…” he captioned a photo.
We don’t know for sure whether James and Elijah are joining in on the Fat Thursday-week festivities, but you can be sure Jim Bob and Michelle are assuming the worst.
We don’t even know when James will be going home.
But you can rest assured that it won’t be soon enough for her ultra-conservative parents!
And once he’s back on the Duggar compound, the college-age rebel may find that his family is eager to curb his cravings to roam.
Hopefully, James doesn’t let his parents clip his wings!
