“It’s partly social media” – Frank Lampard hits back at Chelsea star’s critics as transfer looms

Frank Lampard has criticized Mason Mount’s critics and questioned why they fail to see the Chelsea star’s talent. He believes that the midfielder has suffered a drop in his form, but he is still a top player.

Mount could leave Chelsea in the summer if he does not sign a new contract. The midfielder has reportedly stalled talks with the club as they are far apart on contract terms.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Brighton v Hove Albion game, Lampard admitted that Mount has not been at his best this season, but believes the midfielder is still a great player. He said:

“I’m not going to tell anyone what opinion they should have on football, but if someone thinks that Mason Mount is not a top player, then I’m not sure what they’re looking at, in my opinion. The way is one thing people can debate. There are players now debating more than we ever were in my career. It’s partly social media. But working with Mason, you can ask myself, you can ask Thomas Tuchel, you can ask Gareth Southgate, you can ask Graham Potter, it’s clear he’s a great player.”

Revealing that the midfielder is dealing with injury, Lampard added:

“He’s had his little injury problem. He felt good in the game the other day. Fingers crossed the injury is okay. But he’s a top player and a top guy. And he has a great affiliation with the club. One thing What I know about Mason the first thing a top player has to have is a real hunger to succeed and play and do well at Chelsea and he’s had it since the first day I took him to the Derby that’s simple to me still He’s a young player. He can go further, but he’s already a top player.”

Chelsea star Mason Mount has Premier League interest

Chelsea star Mason Mount is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League teams who are interested in signing him in the summer. Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be leading the chase, while Manchester United are also in the know.
