LeBron James will have a chance to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The LA Lakers host the Thunder on Tuesday night and fans are hoping to see James break the record.
Sadly, the four-time NBA champion may not play tonight. He is questionable for Tuesday night’s matchup because of a sore left ankle and could miss the game.
LeBron’s injury status will be updated shortly before the game begins, but for now, he is listed as questionable and will likely be sidelined. If he doesn’t play, he’ll have a chance to break the record against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
LeBron James might not play against the Oklahoma City Thunder
LeBron has been dealing with ankle issues for a while and has yet to fully recover. The 20-year NBA veteran has missed 11 games in the 2022-23 season, including five in a row in November 2022.
The LA Lakers will play one of their biggest games on Tuesday night when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are only 0.5 games ahead of the Lakers, which makes this matchup very interesting.
James is just 36 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, which makes the upcoming game even more special. Unfortunately, NBA fans may not get to witness a historic night on Tuesday.

The four-time MVP has played in the last three games averaging 27.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. James led the Lakers to a 2-1 record in these games and even posted a 28-10-11 triple-double against the New York Knicks.
LeBron James’ injury status will be updated shortly before the game begins. Considering this is a Western Conference matchup, James’ status may not be revealed until 9 pm ET.
When can LeBron break the all-time scoring record?
LeBron is averaging 30.0 points per game on 50.5% shooting in the 2022-23 season. If he misses Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, chances are he’ll break the record against the Milwaukee Bucks or Golden State Warriors.
The current record holder, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, spent six seasons of his career in Milwaukee, so breaking the record against the Bucks would be very special.
If James doesn’t break the record against the Bucks, becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer against the Golden State Warriors would also be special considering his rivalry with the Dubs.

The Lakers forward needs 36 points to pass Abdul-Jabbar. He’s scored 35-plus points in nine of 43 games this season, so he could probably do it in one game.
