Is Astral Projection real? Conspiracy surrounding declassified CIA document claiming life exists on Mars explained

A CIA document, declassified in 2017, recently circulated online claiming that life existed on Mars. The report titled Exploration of Mars May 22, 1984described how the agency allegedly used a concept in which an individual was psychologically transported to the red planet while physically continuing to remain on Earth, according to Times Now.

This was called Astral Projection, in which a person’s spirit was supposedly made to travel through the astral plane (related to the stars). The individual was reportedly sent back one million years BC and was apparently given different geographic coordinates to explore Mars. It is not yet scientifically proven if Astral Projection was real.

According to the declassified CIA document, Astral Projection was part of Project Stargate (overseen by the Defense Intelligence Agency or DIA). According to Times Now, the initiative aimed to uncover information about the Soviet Union during the Cold War and explore the potential use of psychic phenomena in military and intelligence operations.

However, so far there is no direct scientific evidence that life ever existed on Mars. Space exploration agencies such as NASA have continued their research in this regard.

More on the declassified CIA report on possible life on Mars

In the 1980s, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) decided to use Project Stargate to train human subjects to perform “remote viewing” as part of its goal of gathering information on global affairs.

According to the Popular Mechanics website, remote viewing can be defined as:

“A type of extrasensory perception that involves using the mind to ‘see’ or manipulate distant objects, people, events, or other information that are hidden from physical sight.”

Project Stargate also reportedly employed other mind-reading techniques such as telepathy and psychokinesis, paranormal phenomena in the military, and espionage.

According to the declassified CIA report, “remote viewing” was also used for the “Mars Exploration of May 22, 1984”, also known as the discovery of the mysteries of the red planet. He mentions one human subject in particular who was apparently exposed to binaural beats and hemi-synchronized audio that allowed them to psychologically transport themselves to Mars in altered states of consciousness with enhanced psychic abilities.

The individual who apparently went to Mars with mental capacity reported witnessing an oblique view of a yellowish, okra-colored “pyramidal or pyramidal shape,” along with monuments found in ancient Egypt, “stern clouds,” “a very big” and “a perception of a shadow of people.”

“I still see very big people. They look thin and tall, but they are very big. Ah… wearing some kind of strange clothing,” the subject allegedly claimed to have seen.

These “very large people” were reportedly looking for “a new place to live because their environment had become corrupted.” Mars was also classified as hostile, where supposedly ferocious storms forced supposed natives to take refuge in said pyramids, which were also used for hibernation and survival.

The experiment also revealed that the inhabitants of Mars supposedly used boats like “large ships” to leave their homes and find “volatile lands rich in vegetation.” The study also apparently surmised that the decline of Mars reflected Earth’s fragile and unpredictable future.

Project Stargate took place at Fort Meade in Maryland between 1977 and 1995. Humans with extrasensory perception were hired to help gather national and international intelligence. In addition to Mars exploration, he also helped locate hostages taken by militants to track down fugitives.

In the mid-1990s, certain researchers assumed that Project Stargate was not useful, convincing, or successful in gathering information. For example, Ray Hyman noted that although certain observations were “compelling,” remote viewing was not real, according to the British media company UNILAD.

However, he added that:

“The contemporary findings together with the result of the [Stargate] “The program seems to indicate that something beyond strange statistical hiccups is happening.”

At that time, the DIA and CIA began declassifying all documents and reports associated with Project Stargate, including Exploration of Mars May 22, 1984. This was done so that the scientific credibility of the company could later be reviewed externally.

While direct evidence of life on Mars is still being investigated, meltwater beneath Martian ice could support microbial life, according to an October 2024 NASA report.
