Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov and his girlfriend Ekaterina Yakovleva (Katya) attended SKA St. Petersburg’s Christmas party on Sunday. Demidov, selected in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, currently plays for SKA St. Petersburg.
Ekaterina shared fragments of this weekend’s event with a carousel of photos on her Instagram account. In the caption, she wrote:
“New Year vibes🎄🎰🎁”
One photo showed Ivan and Katya posing together in front of a Christmas tree beautifully decorated with red lights and ribbons. Ivan wore a tailored blue suit with a light blue shirt and bow tie, while Katya stunned in an elegant black dress.
In another photo, Katya showed off her fitted black top with silver lace details, paired with sleek black pants and a small clutch. He also posted a group photo with other fellow SKA players, all dressed in stylish black suits.
Another click captured Ivan and Katya dancing together. Ivan had taken off his jacket and smiled at the camera, holding Katya’s hand. The last slide showed Katya standing next to a friend.
Ivan Demidov received a sweet birthday wish from his girlfriend Katya
Ivan Demidov celebrated his 18th birthday on December 10. On that occasion, the young hockey star received sincere messages from his girlfriend and his older brother, Semyon Demidov.
Katya posted an intimate photo of the couple on her Instagram stories with a sweet birthday wish. The image showed them sitting close together next to a window. Ekaterina captioned the photo:
“С днём рождения @i.demidov ❤️ te amo”, which translates to “Happy birthday @i.demidov ❤️ I love you”
Ivan’s brother Semyon also posted a nostalgic childhood photo of the two brothers on Instagram. The image showed them crouching outdoors as children, with Semyon writing in Russian:
“С днём рождения, Братишка 🎉❤️”, which translates to “Happy birthday, little brother 🎉❤️”.
Selected fifth overall by the Canadiens in the 2024 NHL Draft, Demidov has great scoring and playmaking skills. He debuted with SKA St. Petersburg in 2022 at just 16 years old and has already earned KHL Rookie of the Month honors and a spot on the KHL All-Rookie Team this season.
The Canadiens plan to bring Demidov to North America after his current season with SKA. While he is under contract for the 2024-25 season, Demidov has expressed his intention to join the team once his KHL contract ends. Canadiens officials, including general manager Kent Hughes, are expected to visit him in the coming months to monitor his progress.
